Youth exchanges are an integral part of Theatr Fforwm Cymru’s work with young people. Over the years we have taken many young people to various locations in Europe, to meet with, work with and learn with young people from across Europe. Theatr Fforwm Cymru is part of the Drums for Peace network, which co-ordinates the exchanges in which we participate.
There follows an extract from the DfP guidelines, to give a flavour of the exchanges we participate in.
“Drums for Peace is an international network that uses the transformative power of the arts to nurture community and celebrate diversity in order to create a better world.
Drums for Peace brings young people, youth workers and artists from different countries together. Through youth exchanges, training and networking we aim to:
- realize our own power and potential
- improve intercultural understanding and dialogue;
- experience a variety of art forms;
- develop skills of expression;
- learn from each other through training events;
- share and disseminate examples of best practice in and for youth work community education and social work;
- and influence decision makers.”
