So what’s happening for us at the moment? Here are some of the latest highlights.
February 2008 update:
We are currently co-ordinating the UNESCO-Cymru Wales HIV/AIDS project for young people in the South. We will work with 30 young people for 3 days from Monday March 10th in the Pierhead building of the NAW, culminating in 4 forum theatre performances, on the 13th and 14th , including one in the Senedd to mark Commonwealth week. The project using forum theatre will focus on the causes and reasons that young people get involved in risky behaviour and will provide the opportunity to investigate healthier strategies – Emotional Intelligence and Rehearsal for Reality in action. The project will also draw parallels with the UNESCO Cymru work in Lesotho in Africa. E.mail us info@theatrfforwmcymru.org.uk for more details of this project.
A Reaching Wider project in Swansea with DACE at the University of Swansea. Working with ethnic minority groups and exploring the barriers to higher education. This will be another 3 days workshops, culminating in 2 performances for schools.
BBC Children in Need work is continuing in the Fishguard and Goodwick area and is now in it’s third year. Llew is currently working with young people to organise a “safe night out” and exploring just what that means. Other freelancers are busy providing other workshops also.
The A2A, extending entitlement project in RCT is still proving to be great. One very exciting project within this has been the “On Track” work. This has involved us working with young people who have been referred by the school along side their parents. Very rewarding work.
We’ve also just completed a project that we have done for 10 years now in the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock area, delivering drug awareness workshops to year 6 pupils. This project is supported by the local Rotarians, to whom we are very grateful.
The final training in Estonia with the Culture Academy is soon to take place. This has been very enjoyable also.
