 Theatr Fforwm Cymru offers an accessible and enjoyable way for organizations and communities to share and explore issues. Sometimes information about a specific issue is sought such as in consultation or in evaluation. We are able to adapt our work to help groups express what they honesty feel and think about specific issues, rather than allowing a completely open space for issues to arise from the group themselves. Using our creative and open methods to conduct consultation and evaluation has several advantages over questionnaires and interview methods.
- We create a safe space for people to share honestly what they think and feel
- Many people can express themselves through image and theatre in ways that they might struggle to do so in words, spoken or written.
- Fun is a big element of the work, so that people actually enjoy the process and this has a beneficial effect on the quality of information received.
- Because a dynamic dialogue about how we think and how we feel about issues is central to the process the information collected has more depth and because of this participants feel more ownership over what they have contributed.
- We are careful to ensure that participants in our consultation and evaluation work retain ownership of the information they have given and participate fully in the process of transferring that information to the commissioning body and are informed about how the information is to be used.
- We encourage innovative ways of recording and reporting information, through video for instance, so that it is accessible to as many people as possible.
