  Professional Development Courses

As well as bespoke training, workshops and conferences, Theatr Fforwm Cymru runs professional development courses dependent on demand.

Typically, this would be a three day initial training in forum theatre techniques, and the ‘toolbox’ of related techniques used by Theatr Fforwm Cymru. This training is designed to provide participants with a wealth of techniques for working within the framework of emotional literacy.

The techniques used include a unique blend of circle-time, forum theatre, interactive games, transactional analysis and open-space technology and have evolved as a result of numerous projects undertaken by Theatr Fforwm Cymru over many years. The training is experiential, embracing the “do, review, learn and apply” cycle of learning, in an environment that encourages taking personal responsibility. There is also plenty of time for discussion and networking.

Equally suitable for those with little or no previous experience of forum theatre, and for those who wish to develop their techniques and expertise.
Theatr Fforwm Cymru uses Theatre of the Oppressed techniques to work with individuals and communities to effect change. The applications are almost endless – from providing new insights in one-to-one therapy through to work in schools, youth groups, special needs, community regeneration, mental health service users, survivors of abuse, peer education projects.....

This course will give you an initial insight into the techniques used and equip you to work on your own projects within your own community or organisation, and/or move on to in-depth facilitator training
