Theatr Fforwm Cymru (ThFfC) is an educational charity based in Goodwick, Pembrokeshire and was started in 1993.
ThFfC aims to provide safe, educative, energising and empowering environments where everyone can learn together.
ThFfC used theatre based on real stories and real issues to promote emotional literacy and active citizenship in individuals and communities. ThFfC train others in Forum theatre techniques, and work with community groups, professionals, legislators, schools, excluded children, and many others. Increasingly, our work highlights policies and laws that aren’t working, and investigates changes that are needed to make them work.
Over the past fourteen years, we have worked in Wales and Europe on a huge variety of projects:
• Developing emotional literacy with children and young people
• Personal & community development work with disadvantaged groups
• Creative democracy & active citizenship
• Inter-cultural development with indigenous people/ minority language groups
• Training arts & non-arts professionals in Forum theatre & Theatre as education
• Inter-cultural youth arts events with disadvantaged young people
ThFfC’s mission statement is:
“Honesty, integrity, compassion & simplicity. Humility, reflection, respect and personal responsibility, the celebration of diversity.
The courage to be happy and to embrace unconditionally the positive regard of ourselves and others.
Theatr Fforwm Cymru want to embody these values in all that we do, so that we co-create a lasting space in which our innate wisdom can unfold and nurture well-being within ourselves, our communities, and our world.
All this with the knowledge that words are meaningless without action.” |
